Marble Surface

Dawn Avery has led Interfaith meditation groups and spiritual music performances at the Esalen Institute, the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, Milan Sacred Music Festival, The Open Center in NYC, and Musicales Visuales in Mexico City. As a leader of meditation and creativity workshops, she has worked with great healers and teachers, such as the Dalai Lama, Rick Jarow, Ron Young, Hilda Charleton, Baba Çerifa, along with Haudenosaunee elders Jan Kahehti:io Longboat, Ray Tawenté’se John, and Frank Teahòn:te Miller with whom she trained in cultural spiritual training, language, and ceremony. Of Mohawk heritage, Dawn’s longhouse name is Ierihó:kwats (she digs deeply into her roots to learn) and she is a regular participant in Iroquois ceremonies. Her guided meditations and teaching employ traditions from around the world, taking aspects of various spiritual practices, including Longhouse, Christianity, Sufism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Animism,  focusing on the divine and allowing everyone to delve deeper into their individual systems and beliefs to connect with themselves and the world.

Dawn was a frequent partner with writer and educator Rick Jarow in presenting “anti-career” workshops to help artists, professionals

and people of all walks of life who are looking to align their own inner calling with

the needs of the world. As a workshop leader, Dawn uses meditation and years of

experience with shamans, healers, history, and myth to help participants uncover their

life’s work. Employing her studies workshop members learn the art of “manifestation” to

create work that supports them financially and spiritually, with greater personal freedom

and social impact. Their book and accompanying CD with guided visualizations by

Rick Jarow and music by Dawn Avery are available on SoundsTrue. The music

alone (Dawn Avery – Alchemy) is available on iTunes, Amazon, and cdbaby.com.

Dawn Avery's exploration of sacred music led her to study the relationship

between music and spirituality. Rapidly Approaching Ecstasy: Music for

Movement and Meditation features world grooves on the Hindu chakras along

with a guided visualization track. It will be reissued as a remix entitled Chakra in 2025.

Alchemy: Music for Meditation features tracks with various world music artists in duets

with Dawn on cello and voice. Her music like all her work is about Love –

love for the divine and humanity.
